Raag Jaunpuri

Raag Jaunpuri belongs to the Asavari family because the notes Ga, Dha, and Ni are all komal. Sultan Hussain Sharqi, a music aficionado and the last king of the Jaunpur sultanate is credited for creating this Raag. Jaunpuri is also similar to another ancient Raag Gandhaari. Key Features of Raag Jaunpuri

  • Jaunpuri is very similar to Asavari and it differs from Asavari only by one note. Jaunpuri has a komal Ni in its aaroh, where as Asavari does not.

  • The Dha in Jaunpuri has some aandolan, although not as much as in Darbari. Watch the demonstration in the video below.
